AfroPlan

Creating hope through education

For children in East Africa, education is often a privilege rather than a right…and AfroPlan is working hard to change that.

Based in the poorest rural suburb on the outskirts of Arusha, Tanzania is AfroPlan. This foundation was established by Mr Frank in an effort to give children an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty that is so prevalent and debilitating here. And I was fortunate enough to spend a month volunteering here as part of my travels. My time here was challenging in a lot of ways, but it certainly made an impact and I was determined to find a way to help beyond the short month that I was there with them.

So here it is… A year and a half later, I am excited to partner with Passion Projects International, who are a registered charity in Canada. They work actively with AfroPlan to support and sponsor these children’s educations. So I have pulled together a small range of products that speak to the ethos of this beautiful group, and $10AUD from every item sold in my AfroPlan range, will go to Passion Projects International to support AfroPlan through this difficult time.

A little more about AfroPlan

The mission of this foundation is to free children from poverty, hunger, lack of education, and poor health services for their future. In a place where many families cannot afford to feed and educate their children, AfroPlan acts as a stepping stone and an agent for change. It offers pre-school education, and 2 meals per day. These meals are often the only food that these children get. It also introduces them to the world. With the support of Passion Projects International (a Canadian based charity), sponsors are found and connected to the children, who can then transition to a real accredited school. Without this help, these children face a future without an education beyond the age of 7.
